Diamond Buying Guide — The Four Cs

At Neel Jewels®, we believe understanding the Four Cs—Cut, Colour, Clarity, and Carat—helps you make a confident choice when purchasing natural diamond jewellery.

Every Neel Jewels® diamond is ethically sourced and certified by reputed labs like IGI, GII, or SGL.

1) Cut

Cut refers to how well a diamond’s facets interact with light. The better the cut, the more fire, brilliance, and scintillation you’ll see.

Recommended

Choose Excellent or Very Good for maximum sparkle.

Grades

Excellent · Very Good · Good · Fair · Poor

Neel Jewels® Standard: We offer only Excellent or Very Good cut diamonds.

2) Colour

Colour measures the absence of body colour. The less colour, the rarer and more valuable.

Scale

D (colourless) → Z (noticeable tint)

Tip: For a bright, colourless look, target D–H.

3) Clarity

Clarity evaluates internal inclusions and external blemishes. Fewer inclusions = more light performance.

Grades

IF · VVS · VS · SI · I

Buying Tip

VVS or VS offers exceptional brilliance—imperfections are typically not visible to the naked eye.

4) Carat

Carat measures diamond weight. Larger stones are rarer, but perceived size also depends on cut and proportions.

Buying Tips

  • Pick a carat that fits your budget and style.
  • A superior cut can make a diamond face-up larger than it weighs.
